When entering the gym, the majority of us are likely to choose the treadmill as our first workout. Now the important question is, how long can you continue running on it? 30 minutes or a maximum of an hour?

But have you ever thought of continuing to run for 25 hours without a break? It may sound difficult, but an inspiring woman has decided to take on the task.

Meet former national athlete Melinder Kaur, the epitome of unflinching determination who is now on a mission to set a new record again.

The mother of one will be attempting to become the first Malaysian woman to run non-stop on a treadmill for a minimum of 25 hours and also more than 120km within 24 hours.

This 34-year-old is now eagerly prepping herself for this breathtaking attempt that will begin tomorrow at 10 am at the Arté by Thomas Chan Hotel in Mont Kiara.

Melinder who is also an ex-military officer remarked that with this undertaking she wishes to raise at least RM10,000 for underprivileged kids.

She says, “It’s not a lot, but I aim to change every kid’s life through this gesture.”

Talking about her participation in the marathon, this Penangite said that she has never attempted running a marathon and that the most distance she has ever completed in a single jaunt is 20 kilometres.

Running on a treadmill for a longer length of time does require more stamina than usual.

But this ambitious woman embraced this enormous challenge and in less than 2 months, she trained herself every day, including hill runs, HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training), an easy hour run every day, as well as strength, speed, and conditioning training.

“Somehow, being well-prepared for this 25-hour treadmill run is difficult. The only thing I have to tell myself is that it’s either do or die; it’s more about your self-belief than your physical fitness. Stay positive and keep moving,” she expressed.

During this attempt, she will be chaperoned by 2 doctors, Kamaldave Singh and Parveen Kaur on standby along with her manager Jai Nanak Singh and support crew Sanjeev Singh, Manjeet Singh, Semran Kaur and Vanessa Lehl.

This brave lady also expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Arte by Thomas Chan, who sponsored the use of facilities for this fantastic effort to be conducted at the gym that is located on their premises.

She has also made history by shattering incredible records.

On the 15th of April 2022, she earned a spot in the Malaysia Book of Records by achieving a remarkable feat after performing a 100-metre forward-roll clocking in just 52.40 seconds, the fastest woman to do so. What is more fascinating is that she was just a short of 10 seconds away from the Guinness World Records carried by Bethany Lodge (42.64 seconds).

Previously speaking to Varnam MY, she pursued that record with the sole purpose of helping the underprivileged, orphaned and neglected kids in our country by channeling all her sponsorship for the record attempt as a form of donation.

Do you know that this Iron Lady stamped an impressive record during the Malaysia Games?

Yes! She has held the women’s 3000 m steeplechase record for 22 years, ever since she won gold in the 2010 Malaysia Games in Melaka with an impressive time of 10:55.31s. (Her record is still unbreakable)

All the best on this fantastic good-cause record-making attempt Melinder!
