Tamil movie Ponniyin Selvan 2 (PS2), which was produced by LYCA Productions and MSK Cinemas Sdn Bhd, was honoured with a Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) award for being the first Indian movie to be released in 4DX

PS2, a movie with a high production budget, stars Aishwarya Rai, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, and Vikram, among other well-known Bollywood and Kollywood actors.

The director of MSK Cinemas, Saradha Sivalingam, stated this recognition means a lot to her and the fans of Tamil films in this country.

The 4DX film from India received the MBOR award because it was the first to be shown in this format. In fact, PS2 was the first Indian movie to be released in 4DX format globally.

Saradha expressed her gratitude to Lyca Productions, specifically to the company’s executive Subaskaran Allirajah and the film’s director, Mani Ratnam, for the success of PS2 in Malaysia.

“Lyca Productions is the biggest production company in India and releases excellent films with big budgets.

We won MBOR recognition for being the first Indian movie to be shown in 4DX cinematic format, where it had never been done before.

When approached by reporters at the recent MBOR Recognition Presentation Ceremony at the Foyer, Aurum Theatre, The Gardens Mall Kuala Lumpur, MBOR representative Nazrul Hafizi said, “Actually, PS2 is the first Indian film in the world to be screened in 4DX format.

When you watch in 4DX, it feels like you’re on a roller coaster as you take in the sound of the ambient audio, the movement of the chairs, and the unique effects like smoke, water splashing, and wind gusts.

According to Saradha, the reaction from the PS2 audience was overwhelmingly positive, and they seemed to enjoy the 4DX format of the movie.

This is due to the fact that experiencing the movie in 4DX format is unlike experiencing other movies in theatres. Audience feedback suggests that this time’s viewing experience is more thrilling, he said.

After this, MSK Cinemas will release more films in the 4DX format, and PS2 films have been screened in theatres since April 28, 2023. PS2 films have succeeded at the box office, earning RM9 million in total.
