Gautham Karthik appears to be taking a break from his string of comedy films, for an action packed kampung (village) story, Devarattam. The trailer of the film was released yesterday.
Directed by M Muthiah, the person behind the Vishal’s hit Marudhu, Devarattam will see Gautham play a lawyer who is also a thug in his village.
Manjima Mohan will be headlining Devarattam alongside Gautham. The actress is fondly remembered for her portrayal of Leela in the 2016 film Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada.
Soori, Akalya Venkatesan, Ramdoss, Bose Venkat, Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, Rajkiran and Jagapathi Babu will be starring in Devarattam as well.
Of course, there is the mandatory dialogue championing the punishment of sexual harassers at the very end of the trailer. “Manna thottavana kooda vitralam, aana ponna thottavana vida koodathu” utters Gautham Karthik in rage. Hmm.. what about teaching men to respect women so that they don’t touch them in the first place?
