A total of 45 heat-related disease cases were reported nationwide, with 33 cases of heat exhaustion, 11 cases of heatstroke, and one case of heat cramps.
According to Health Director-General Datuk Dr Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan, eight instances were reported in Perak and Kedah, with six in Selangor.
He stated that there were five cases reported in Johor, Negri Sembilan, and Pahang, four in Sabah, two in Perlis, and one in Penang and Kelantan.He further stated that two deaths had been reported due to heatstroke.
In Kelantan, a three-year-old kid and a 22-year-old man died in the first instance, according to a statement from Dr. Muhammad Radzi.He also added that four instances were still being treated in hospitals, including one heatstroke case in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and three cases treated in ordinary wards, consisting of two heatstroke cases and one heat-related illness.
The ICU case involves a 24-year-old guy who was admitted to Hospital Port Dickson on March 10 and transferred to Hospital Tuanku Jaafar ICU in Seremban on April 5,” he added. Encourage people to exercise caution by drinking enough water, avoiding physically demanding activities, and staying indoors during the current heat wave.
According to Dr. Muhammad Radzi, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MET Malaysia) issued a warning on Saturday, and the ministry is keeping an eye on heat-related ailments.
In addition, he advised people to stay out of the heat, take more breaks, visit family and friends at night or during cooler months, and avoid being out in the sun throughout the holiday season.
Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pendang, Yan, Kuala Muda, Kulim, Bandar Baharu, Baling, Padang Terap, Sik in Kedah, and the northeast region of Penang are among the areas under Alert Level 1 due to a daily maximum temperature of 35°C to 37°C for at least three consecutive days.
Other regions include: Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, and Kinta in Perak; Gua Musang in Kelantan; Raub in Pahang; Limbang in Sarawak; and Tenom, Beaufort, and Tuaran in Sabah.A maximum temperature above 37°C to 40°C for at least three days in a row is indicated by an Alert Level 2, which was reported by Pokok Sena in Kedah.
