The Human Resources Ministry will focus on ensuring that new job opportunities offer better wages and match the qualifications and skills of jobseekers.

Human Resources Minister YB Dato’Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan said they are focusing on the number of jobs created. Instead, more attention will be given to the quality of jobs and weather they are suitable for the people applying.

Creating a large number of vacancies would not be enough if the jobs do not offer decent wages or match the qualifications of jobseekers.

MYFutureJobs Uses AI For Better Job Matching

Dato’ Ramanan said Malaysia already has a strong labour market system through MYFutureJobs, a job platform that uses AI to improve the matching process between jobseekers and employers.

The system recommends suitable job opportunities based on applicant’s qualification and skills, helping jobseekers find positions that better match their background

According to Dato Ramanan, more than 300,000 job applications have been recorded through the platform with 200,000 successful job matches. More than 100,000 job vacancy are also currently available. He said the ministry will continue to work towards creating job opportunities that provides better income while making sure that Malaysians can find work suited to their qualification.

The announcement was made as Pakatan Harapan launched “Johor for All” manifesto for Johor state election. It includes 10 main areas including healthcare, housing, entrepreneurship, education, agriculture, transport and employment.

Among it is plans to create 250,000 high-paying and decent job in Johor through the growth of modern and high-value industries. The target includes creating 50,000 jobs each year and increasing Johor’s median wage by 30 per cent.
