Indian cricketer Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has made history by becoming the youngest cricketer to represent India at the international level.
At 15 years old, Sooryavanshi made international debut in the Twenty20 International (T20I) match against England in Manchester. He received his maiden international cap from teammate Tilak Varma before the match and became India’s 122nd men’s T20I player.
His debut has broken the record by Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, who was 16 years old when he made his international debut in a Test match against Pakistan back in November 1989.

A Rapid Rise to the National Team
Sooryavanshi is seen as one of India’s most promising young cricket talents after his impressive performances over the past year.
He first gained popularity after scoring a century from 35 balls in the Indian Premier League (IPL) last year. Then continued his strong form in this year’s IPL season. He recorded a strike rate of more than 237 and also set a tournament record by hitting 72 sixes.

His performances had growing calls for him to be included in the Indian national team. However, the selectors waited until he turned 15 in March before including him in India’s T20 squads for the series against Ireland and England. Sooryavanshi did not play in the two matches against Ireland, where they had a 2-0 series defeat.
He finally received a opportunity in the second match of the five-game T20I series against England. The first match at Old Trafford ended without a result, leaving the series level at 0-0. Sooryavanshi’s international debut marks a major milestone in his young career, and begins a new chapter for one of Indian cricket’s most exciting rising talents.
