Dr Nisha Thayananthan Does Her All to Fight the Covid-19 Pandemic

Dr Nisha Thayananthan, former pageant contestant is the walking definition of the Miss World Malaysia 2019 “Beauty with a Purpose Award” title given to her. She is making a real difference in the lives of the needy who are facing challenges as a result of the global Covid-19 pandemic.

The medical doctor has initiated efforts to deliver essentials like rice, cooking oil and milk to low-income groups whose earnings have been affected by the pandemic.

“I was taught to give more than to receive… especially to the less fortunate. My parents are my biggest inspiration. I still remember the times when I was little girl, my dad used to drop us at villages to distribute groceries to the underprivileged,” she said to Bernama.

“I’ve been a part of the humanitarian mission for quite some time now. Along this journey, I’ve come across people who are suffering… especially during the ongoing movement control order (MCO) to contain Covid-19,”

Dr Nisha is also fighting the Covid-19 outbreak from the frontlines, in Hospital Putrajaya. d “Most of the times I fork out my own pocket money to help these people and often use my days off by engaging in charity, ”

“During this crisis, my colleagues have made heartbreaking sacrifices to save lives, by working day and night, staying away from their loved ones to deliver their care to those who are affected. As a doctor, I want everyone to be vigilant and to stay home during this pandemic as we are working hard to eradicate Covid-19, ” she said.
