Human Resource minister Mr Sivakumar urges more Indian students to go for TVET. TVET which stands for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) encompasses a diverse spectrum of educational pathways, spanning formal, non-formal, and informal methods, all aimed at equipping young individuals with the necessary expertise and abilities for successful integration into the workforce.
As articulated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), TVET has undergone a variety of nomenclatures over the years, such as apprenticeship training, vocational education, technical education, technical-vocational education, occupational education, vocational education and training, professional and vocational education, career and technical education, workforce education, workplace education, and various others.
Irrespective of the terminology used, UNESCO highlights a consistent characteristic of TVET: it incorporates, alongside general education, the exploration of technologies and relevant sciences, along with the development of practical skills, attitudes, comprehension, and expertise relevant to a variety of occupational fields within the realms of economics and societal dynamics.
In the realm of TVET, young individuals are afforded the chance to acquire knowledge across a broad spectrum, progressing from fundamental to advanced levels within a diverse array of learning institutions and real-world work environments. TVET programmes in Malaysia are offered at certificate, diploma, and degree levels by seven ministries that include Ministry Of Higher Education(MOHE).
TVET holds the potential to nurture skilled and capable individuals poised for a promising future. The Human Resource Ministry has took the initiative to offer TVET to Indian students. Mr Sivakumar also requested the students to not assume TVET as second choice. He underscores the wide range of job opportunities available in this field, emphasizing that students should enthusiastically embrace these prospects. Enrolling in TVET programs not only enhances their skill sets but also empowers them to excel in the competitive job market, ensuring a promising and prosperous future.
In this case, the application for TVET January 2024 intake will be available from 30th October 2023 till the month of November. Those who are interested can apply here.
