World No. 70 Letshanaa Karupathevan has defeated Australia’s Tiffany Ho 21-16, 21-13 at the Syed Modi India International. This is an incredibly high achievement, as it is rare for a Malaysian athlete to reach the last 16 in a Super 300 tournament. Letshanaa’s next game will be against the challenging No. 21 Line Kjaersfeldt of Denmark.
20-year-old Letshanaa, a former national Under-16 and Under-18 champion, is one of the most capable and extraordinary badminton players Malaysia has. She has been the champion at the 2018 Mauritius International and 2023 Uganda International for women’s singles.
Letshanaa briefly exited the Badminton Association of Malaysia in February 2022 due to a back injury but rejoined as of March 2023. She has shown incredible resilience and dedication to bettering her craft and developing her skills to bring pride to the nation and her own unrelenting spirit.
