So, did you know that Google has a different doodle on their search box today? Do you know what this means?

It’s International Children’s Day!

Children’s Day in Malaysia is usually held on the last Saturday of October. Nowadays, however it is commonly celebrated on 20th November following the International Children’s Day.

google

The special day was celebrated for the first time in Malaysia in 1959 and was the last Saturday in October. Children’s Day is celebrated annually in honour of children worldwide.

The International Children’s Day was first declared at the World Conference on Child Rights in Geneva. Since 1950, it has been celebrated on 1st June in most Communist and post-Communist countries.

The World Children’s Day is now celebrated on 20th November in commemoration of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly on 20th November 1959

Google

What does the Declaration of the Rights of the Child say?

  1. The child must be given the necessary support for his or her natural growth, both materially and spiritually.
  2. The child who is starving must be fed, the child who is ill must be nursed, the child who is disadvantaged must be helped, the delinquent child must be recovered, and the orphan and the waif must be sheltered and protected.
  3. The child must be the first to be relieved in times of distress.
  4. The child must be in a position to make a living and must be secured from all kinds of exploitation.
  5. The child must be raised up with the knowledge that his energies must be committed to the service of his fellow people.

How can we celebrate Children’s Day?

Google
  • Do a little home-picnic for your children

Parents should take time out and spend some quality and nurturing time with their children.

Google
  • Cook or bake with them

This develops an interest in complicated tasks, and baking and cooking will still be fun.

  • Pizza party

Pizza orders could be the easiest during this pandemic, and I’m pretty sure all kids enjoy pizza.

Google
  • Painting party

Children love painting, and parents joining their children to paint would make them very happy, which enhances one’s understanding about their child.

  • Teach them to make a vision board

Children are our future leaders, so training them to make a vision board will encourage them to do all it takes to achieve their goals and vision.

  • Organise a zoom party for your children and their mates

Just like adults, even child longs to hang out with their friends. Organising a zoom party with their friends would make them feel so cheerful and special.

Children’s Day is as important as other days as well. They should be honoured and celebrated everyday

Google

Giving importance to them is not only going to make them happy for the time being. A happy and contented child will certainly have a better and brighter future, empowering them to become great leaders and citizens.
