The government is set to introduce additional support to assist those currently out of work, including unemployed graduates and diploma holders, as a effort to address the ongoing global supply crisis.
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the initiative focuses to ensure that skills and qualifications are no left unused, specially among young Malaysians entering the workforce.
“I will announce additional measures soon to assist those who were out of work, including unemployed graduates and diploma holders,” he said after chairing a roundtable session with financial institutions.
The planned initiative comes along with the broader government efforts to ease financial pressures on affected groups. These include higher monthly assistance under the Agri-Commodity programme and BUDI Diesel support for individual diesel vehicle owners, farmers and smallholders.
Also support for padi cultivation and are also expected to increase, along with RM5 Billion financing guarantee for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The move reflects the governments focus on impact of global economic challenges while strengthening workforce.
According to date from February 2026, Malaysia unemployment rate stood 2.9 per cent. With approximately 506,800 individuals currently out of work.
This announcement is expected to provide clear direction of how this initiative will be implemented, specially in support for job seekers and helping them re-enter the workforce.
