Plans to relocate and rebuild the 100-year-old SJKT Ladang Sungai Muar in Segamat are moving forward as the Ministry of Education continues discussions with the school and relevant authorities.
Education Minister YB Fadhlina Sidek visited the school recently with Deputy National Unity Minister and Segamat MP YB Yuneswaran Ramaraj to discuss the relocation process and the long-term future of the school.

The relocation is to address a few issues faced by the school, including the currently infrastructure, safety concerns, and limited transport access as the location is quite far from the local community.
Relocation Process at Land Ownership Stage
According to YB Yuneswaran, he has been pushing for a relocation for SJKT Ladang Sungai Muar since he was elected as Segamat MP in 2022.

Based on the briefing during the visit, the relocation process is currently at land ownership stage, which is handled in cooperation with the relevant land authorities in Segamat.

YB Yuneswaran said the Education Minister’s visit shows that the matter was receiving serious attention. He also promised to continue monitoring the progress, and following up until the relocation process is successfully completed.
Senior officials from Ministry of Education, such as the Deputy Director-General of Education Malaysia, Johor State Education Director and representatives from the Segamat District Education Office (PPD), were there during the visit.

A School with a Century of History
YB Fadhlina in a facebook post has highlighted the important role SJKT Ladang Sungai Muar has played over 100 years.
Over the years, the school has contributed to the education and development of generations of students. Apart from academic and co-curricular achievements, the school is also known for their success in dance, with achievements recorded at state and national levels.

YB Fadhlina said the ministry would provide the best support in fulfilling the hopes of the school community, Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) and School Management Board (LPS). The proposed relocation and rebuilding of the school is expected to have a safer, comfortable and conductive learning environment for the students.
