Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil Segambut in Kuala Lumpur has recently completed a new 100-metre sprint track featuring eight lanes. This facility aims to nurture young athletic talent among the school’s students.
Federal Territory Minister Hannah Yeoh announced that the development of the sprint track began in December of last year and was completed in April of this year. She emphasized the importance of providing proper sports infrastructure in schools to encourage active participation in athletics and help identify promising young athletes.

The sprint track is expected to benefit SJKT Segambut students by providing them with a dedicated space for sports training, physical education, and sports development programs. The initiative is designed not only for competitive training but also to promote healthier lifestyles among students through regular physical activity. This effort is part of a broader initiative to strengthen the sports culture in schools and support long-term athlete development at the grassroots level.
School administrators and the education community have welcomed the new facility, noting that access to proper training infrastructure at a young age can play a crucial role in fostering discipline, teamwork, and sporting excellence among students.
Overall, this project reflects ongoing efforts to invest in school-level sports facilities and create more opportunities for students to discover and develop their potential in athletics.
