First State in India to Use Drone Patrols for Women’s Safety
During the launch of the Singappen Special Force, it was announced that drone patrols would be introduced to improve women’s safety in the state. For the first phase of the initiative, a total of Rs 354 crores has been allocated to acquire technology tools, modern vehicles, and advanced equipment. In the second phase, 2,500 new positions will be created for the force.

Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay emphasized that this special force would support existing women’s safety mechanisms and focus on prevention. The initiative aims to curb stalking, sexual harassment, trafficking attempts, and more.
About the Singappen Special Force
The Singappen Special Force was one of the first orders signed by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay after he took oath on May 10, 2026. In its first phase, the force has a sanctioned strength of 36 positions, which includes one Inspector General of Police, one Superintendent of Police, two Deputy Superintendents of Police, four Inspectors, eight Sub-Inspectors, and 20 personnel from other ranks.

Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has declared a zero-tolerance policy for crimes against women, and the Singappen Special Force will ensure that strict action is taken against offenders. The safety of women and children remains a top priority for the government. He also mentioned that chargesheets in such cases would be filed promptly while ensuring that innocent individuals are not wrongfully punished.
