For many people, fashion is just about apparels you wear. But for Malaysian stylist Yogash, fashion is about storytelling, confidence, and identity. Yogash has built a name for himself over the years through his styling work, creative direction, and commitment on helping people express themselves through fashion.

His work has brought him from local fashion projects to Cannes Film Festival 2026. While Cannes is known for having celebrities from all over the world, luxury brands, and global attention. Yogash saw this as an opportunity to bring Malaysian creativity on the red carpet.

Behind the red carpets s a journey that is built with passion, hard work and years of dedication. From a young boy inspired by the beautiful Aishwarya Rai to a stylist representing Malaysian talent internationally, Yogash’s journey is one that is inspiring.

A Childhood Passion That Became a Career

Every successful journey starts somewhere. For Yogash, it started with his fascination for fashion, beauty and the way clothing can build a person’s confidence and express self-expression.

Yogash’s journey to fashion began when he was 10, after discovering his inspiration, Aishwarya Rai. Admiring her beauty, achievements, and presence got him into the world of entertainment, beauty, and fashion. What started as a childhood curiosity grew into a genuine passion and a career path.

Over the years, Yogash spent his time learning about observation, experience and experimentation. He spent most of his time understanding on fabrics, colours, silhouettes, and the fashion’s power of transformation.

“What started as curiosity slowly became a calling,” he reflects.

Like many other creatives, his success was not an overnight thing. He took every opportunity to learn, create and refine his craft. Through growth and hands-on experience, he found his place in the industry.

As his career was built, he realised that styling was much more than selecting outfits. It was about understanding people, their personalities and the stories they wanted to tell through fashion. This approach helped him build strong relationships with clients, and build a trust, which opened doors for bigger opportunity.

Bringing Malaysian Designers to the World Stage

One of the things that sets Yogash apart is his commitment to promote Malaysian talent. While many stylist focus solely on creating standout looks, he also sees international platforms as opportunities to create visibility for local designers.

Q: As a Malaysian stylist on a international platform, did you make a conscious effort to spotlight any Malaysian or regional designers through your work at Cannes? Why is it important for you to create space for local talent on a global stage?

A: Absolutely. As a Malaysian Stylist, I believe that every international platform is an opportunity not only to showcase my work but also to shine a light on the incredible talent we have here at home

For Cannes Film Festival 2026, Yogash made the effort to incorporate Malaysian designers into his styling work. Through the red carpet appearances and international exposure he helped to introduce local fashion talents to global audience.

“For the Cannes Film Festival, I have had the privilege of showcasing designs from talented names such as Abu Shaef Hamza, Yani Bakthiar, Syomirizwa Gupta, Sodiqin Shaw, Dickson Lim, Kalai House of Linen, and many others.”

For Yogash, every media appearance, every photos and international event creates a opportunity to show the creativity and craftsmanship of Malaysia’s fashion industry. He believes Malaysian fashion deserves a place in the world’s biggest stage.

Creating Looks That Sells Stories

While fashion is mostly seen as a visual art, Yogash sees styling as a form of storytelling. Every look begins with understanding the individual and message they wish to communicate.

Q: When preparing for an event as prestigious as Cannes, what is your creative process like? How do you balance storytelling, personal style, cultural influences, and international fashion experiences expectations when curating a look?

A: For me, preparing for ane event as prestigious as Cannes Film Festival begins long before the red carpet. Every look starts with a story

Rather than following just trends, Yogash focuses on creating looks that feels authentic to the person wearing them. He studies their personality, comfort level, and public image before starting the styling process.

“I believe the most successful looks are not the ones that simply follow trends, but the ones that feel authentic to the individual wearing them”.

Once he understands them, he starts with building visual narrative through fabrics, colours, silhouette and accessories.

Behind the Glamour

To many, fashion is just glamorous and excitement. But behind every successful project is filled with planning, sacrifice and hard work.

Q: People often see the glamour related to fashion, but not the work behind it. What are some challenges, sacrifices, or behind-the-scenes realities that have shaped your journey and helped you reach this stage of your career?

A: People often see the glamour associated with fashion, but they rarely see the work, sacrifices, and challenges that happen behind the scenes.
One of the biggest challenge in Yogash’s career is building credibility and gaining access to brands and designers. While audience only see the final red carpet look, they do not witness the countless discussion, approvals and preparation that happens before.

He also highlighted the demanding nature of fashion. Styling requires long hours, constant communication, and the ability to solve problems quickly. Last minute changes, unexpected issues, and tight schedules are part of the job. Even with all this challenges, Yogash stays motivated by his passion, and is committed to delivering his best work.

Advice for the Next Generation

After his successful journey, Yogash hopes to inspire aspiring designers and stylist who dream of becoming part of the fashion world.

Q: Many young Malaysians dream of building a career in fashion but they have no idea where to begin. Based on your own experiences, what advice would you give aspiring designers and stylist who hope to one day see their work on international platforms like Cannes?

A: My advice to aspiring designers and stylist is to be extremely passionate about what you do. Fashion is an art form it allows you to express your ideas, emotions, and creativity and transforms them into reality. Equip yourself with skills until no one can ignore your talent. Continuously learn, improve and challenge yourself because your skills will always speak for you. Most importantly, be patient. Everyone’s journey is different, and success comes at a different pace of each person.

As Malaysian fashion continues to gain recognition internationally, Yogash hopes more young talents will believe in their talents and abilities, to pursue their ambitions with a confident mindset. From a childhood admiration with fashion to styling models on the world’s biggest stage, Yogash’s journey shows what can happen when passion meets perseverance.
