Around 80,000 patients in Malaysia are expected to benefit each month form the government’s expanded medicine-by-post programme, which will start nationwide on 1st July 2026.
The programme’s estimated cost is RM5.69 million annually, and is to make healthcare services more accessible, especially for patients who face difficulties travelling to hospitals and health clinics to collect their medication.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said this initiative will roll out in all states simultaneously and will be funded fully by the federal government. Under the programme patients will no longer have to pay delivery charges to receive their prescribed medicines.
This service covers all type of medication prescribed to patients receiving treatment at facilities under Ministry of Health (MOH) according to Fahmi. And this move is expected to reduce burden on patient, especially senior citizens, people with mobility issues, and those who lives far from healthcare facilities.
The expansion is government’s effort to improve access to healthcare service while making it more convenient for patients to continue their treatment without unnecessary travel.
The nationwide expansion of the medicine delivery programme is government’s commitment to improve public healthcare service while making important medicines more accessible to those who really needs them. With delivery cost fully covered, thousands of patients are expected to have better convenience and easier access to treatment starting next month.
