R Praviin Launches Food Bank To Help Ease The Burden Of The Needy In Port Dickson

Known for his charitable deeds, the twenty-year-old extended his act of compassion through the creation of a food bank for those in need. Hailing from Port Dickson, Praviin has taken to his Facebook page to announce his initiative on launching not one, but two food banks located at Batu 9, Teluk Kemang and Taman Mewah, Jalan Pantai.

The kind-hearted young man came up with this plan when he was 16 years old to help the less unfortunate and struggling families by offering household essentials for free. He used bits and pieces of his pocket money that he saved up to stop the poor from going hungry.

One’s ethnicity and religion were not taken into account when he invited those who were in need to come and receive food supplies from the food bank. With the aid of some teachers, from house to house, he donated simple necessities such as rice, sugar, flour, milk and cooking oil.

“I did odd jobs to raise funds, including washing cars. I couldn’t support the poor on a wide scale, so I only did what I could to make sure that no one starves in Port Dickson,” he told Bernama in a recent interview.

Praviin who currently works at his father’s air-conditioner repair shop, invited donations from others to support his noble cause. He sets aside RM400 for his food banks from the RM1,000 monthly salary he receives from his father’s business.

The young lad is also determined to all the more help the poor now that a pandemic has tightened many stomachs, forcing even middle class families to go hungry.

Those keen on doing their part in assisting the needy, kindly contact Praviin at 017-3234033.
