In this vein, the City Council of Seberang Perai(Majlis Bandaraya Seberang Perai) recently hosted its annual Pongal festival celebration, achieving a notable milestone by securing a place in the Malaysia Book of Records for crafting the biggest Pongal pot replica made of recycled materials. Recognizing and understanding each other’s cultures is seen as a means to strengthen unity among citizens. Over the years, the Pongal celebration has attracted participants from various ethnic backgrounds, contributing to the festive atmosphere.

This year’s event unfolded at the Multipurpose Hall in Chai Leng Park on 4th February 2024. The festivities were exceptionally joyous as the occasion garnered recognition in the Malaysia Book of Records for crafting the largest Pongal pot replica. The pot, with remarkable dimensions measuring 3.84 meters in height and 3.62 meters in diameter, infused an additional level of enthusiasm and pride into the celebration.
