Dato Abdul Malik Dasthigeer, more commonly known as Dato Malik, the CEO of Malik Streams Corporation, has denied any association with Jaffer Sadiq Abdul Rahman, an alleged Indian drug kingpin. Reports have emerged that Indian authorities recently apprehended Jaffer Sadiq, who was involved in extensive drug networks spanning across Malaysia, Australia, and New Zealand. According to reports, Jaffer was arrested by India’s Narcotics Control Bureau in New Delhi in connection with the seizure of 50kg of pseudoephedrine, a chemical utilized in the production of methamphetamine.
In a YouTube interview, an Indian journalist, who owns a media agency in India, made an allegation. He suggested that the figure linked to Jaffer Sadiq was a Malaysian citizen with close ties to celebrities in the Tamil film industry and a film distributor. However, the journalist did not reveal the specific identity of this individual. Subsequent to these events, numerous allegations surfaced claiming that Dato Malik is the superior of Jaffer Sadiq. Nevertheless, these accusations lack substantiating evidence and appear to be solely rooted in speculative news reports.
The Malaysian Police Department launched an investigation into the situation. Meanwhile Dato Malik uploaded a video on his social media platform to clarify the matter. In the video statement, he denied any connection with Jaffer Sadiq. He said that he has never met nor communicated with the individual in question.
As a Malaysian businessman, I find that these allegations have been made to damage my name and reputation, particularly within the film industry. Consequently, I have filed a police statement at the Dang Wangi police station and have forwarded the report to the Indian embassy. Additionally, I have instructed my lawyer to promptly address the media outlets in India and Malaysia responsible for disseminating false information regarding this matter.
Yesterday, the police have denied reports suggesting any connection between Jaffer Sadiq and international drug trafficking in Malaysia. Datuk Khaw Kok Chin, Director of Bukit Aman’s Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department, refuted claims made by a certain portal suggesting Jaffer Sadiq’s involvement in drug-related activities in Malaysia, purportedly led by a Malaysian citizen within the Tamil film industry. Authorities stated that there is insufficient evidence to support these allegations and confirmed that investigations will proceed accordingly.
Dato Malik is a prominent businessman and film distributor in Malaysia. He has played a significant role in distributing numerous popular Kollywood films across Malaysia, while also actively supporting the Malaysian Tamil film industry. Additionally, he has organized several concerts in the country. Beyond his professional endeavors, Dato Malik is recognized for his philanthropic activities, including sponsoring underprivileged Muslims for their Umrah pilgrimage and making contributions to the Indian community.
