Bharatha Kalanjali Malaysia marked a meaningful comeback with the presentation of Naatya Seva, a special dance performance, which was held in Ipoh.
The event was a nostalgic celebration of the academy while also highlighting the unwavering contributions of Guru Shrimathi Meera Venugopal, a distinguished disciple of Nritya Choodamani Padmabhushan Dr. V. P. Dhananjayan and Nritya Choodamani Padmabhushan Shrimathi Shanta Dhananjayan. Over the past 35 years, Shrimathi Meera Venugopal has choreographed an impressive 272 set items and dance pieces, reflecting her creativity, dedication, and enduring passion for Bharatanatyam.

On May 30, 2026, Naatya Seva programme celebrated the spirit of service through arts, demonstrating how culture and community engagement can come together for a meaningful cause. The programme envisioned as more than a classical dance performance.
As the main part of the initiative, Bharatha Kalanjali Malaysia donated RM10,000 to the Perak Association for Intellectually Disabled (PAFID). The donation is aimed to support the organisation’s efforts in providing education, vocational training and rehabilitation services for intellectually disabled children and teenagers across the state.

The event showcased the academy’s commitment not only to preserving and promoting classical Indian dance but also to giving back to society. Through Naatya Seva, Bharatha Kalanjali Malaysia reaffirmed the values of compassion, service, and community responsibility while celebrating its artistic heritage and longstanding connection to Ipoh.
