A happy family’s holiday turns tragedy.

The announcement of last week’s long holidays made everyone happy as they could spend quality time with their loved ones. But for some, it doesn’t last long.

A recent trip by an Indian family to Port Dickson ended in tragedy when three sisters (Kalaivani-30, Dawige-29, and Sathiyadevi-19) who had been swimming at the Pantai Cahaya beach drowned. Meanwhile, R. Veeran (26), and J. Sathiswaran (29), were among the two others who were saved by members of the public and firefighters, and they were taken to a hospital for treatment.

Telok Kemang Fire and Rescue station chief Azizee Alias stated that the bodies of the three victims was found about 50 metres from the beach.

What is heartbreaking is that the eldest of three sisters, Kalaivani, who drowned, was supposed to get married to her fiancé, J. Sathiswaran, this coming November. The bride-to-be drowned, while the groom-to-be was rescued in the incident.

Following the tragic news, netizens offered condolences to the victims’ families. They have also advised others to be careful during the monsoon season.

Where it went wrong!

According to Azizee Alias, at the time of the incident, it was high tide and the sea was choppy and he was also informed that the area was restricted from swimming activities.

What should you do to prevent such a situation from happening?

Before you take off for your vacation, please do a survey about the place you’re heading to. Check the perfect season to visit destinations such as beaches and mountains, as they each have a preferred time of year. Also, do a triple check and pay attention to safety as well.

With this, let’s all make a safe and memorable trip wherever we go.

Stay safe everyone!
