The championship took place at the EV Arena in Elmina, Malaysia, and saw some of the best teams from across Asia competing for the title. The event culminated in an exciting final on Sunday, 13th October 2024, where teams gave their all in a display of skill, strategy, and teamwork.

Kisshaen Ananthan

Kisshaen Ananthan, Navin Das Arokiadass, along with Muhd Nazri Yunus, were part of the Malaysian squad for the Asia 7s Championship 2024. Kisshaen Ananthan is a full-time player for JDT Futsal, while Navin Das Arokiadass plays professionally for Kuala Lumpur City Futsal. Muhd Nazri Yunus, on the other hand, is a part-time player for Canaan Football Club. Their participation added to the strength and diversity of the team, showcasing the talent of these exceptional athletes.

In the semifinals, Malaysia faced a tough challenge against a formidable Japan team. Despite their best efforts, Malaysia fell short, losing 3-0 to Japan in a hard-fought match. However, the team demonstrated resilience and determination, bouncing back to secure a third-place finish in the championship.

The boys faced several challenges throughout the tournament, particularly as they came together as a new team with players from diverse sporting backgrounds, including futsal and football. The short preparation timeline meant that their training and cohesion as a unit were limited, yet their unwavering fighting spirit drove them to finish in the top 3. As the host nation, they carried the added pressure of representing Malaysia on a prestigious platform, which demanded both caution and resilience. Despite these hurdles, the team played with determination, refusing to give up, and proudly showcased Malaysia’s potential in the sport.

The boys are incredibly proud and happy with their highest achievement so far, representing the nation in this prestigious competition. This marks Malaysia’s first-ever participation in the Asia 7s Championship, making their third-place finish even more special. Despite their loss to the defending champions, Japan, they fought valiantly until the very end, showing great spirit and determination throughout the match.

Japan emerged as the champions of the tournament, defeating the Philippines 2-1 in the final. Malaysia’s third-place finish in the Asia 7s Championship 2024 is a moment of great pride for the nation, marking an impressive achievement in its first participation. The representation of Indian athletes in the national team adds even more significance to this accomplishment, reflecting the strength of diversity in Malaysian sports. This success not only highlights the nation’s potential but also brings pride to the Indian community, showcasing their valuable contributions to the country’s sporting landscape.
