Ex-Malaysia and international football player Serbegeth “Shebby” Singh passed away yesterday (13th Jan 2022) at the age of 61.
Hailing from Johor, Shebby died around 7pm while he was cycling in Sunway Iskandar due to a heart attack, stated the Iskandar Puteri district police chief Dzulkhairi Mukhtar.
Shebby made his first football appearance for the Southern State in 1978 as a defender. He played nine years of international football for Malaysia and was a South-east Asian Games gold medalist in 1989. After his retirement in 1996, he remained involved in football mostly as a pundit, appearing on Astro Arena and Astro Supersport among various TV networks.
Additionally, he was memorably appointed as global advisor for Blackburn Rovers in 2012 and also had a role at Malaysian Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim. Shebby was also recruited as a worldwide adviser for Blackburn Rovers between 2012 and 2013.

According to the MalayMail, his football commentator career spanned over 20 years with appearances on Astro SuperSport, FoxSports and ESPN Asia. Shebby sir, you will be sorely missed!
The legendary footballer is survived by his wife and two children.
