Shweta Sekhon Is Miss Universe Malaysia 2019

Shweta Sekhon was crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2019 at the glitzy Gala Night dinner event held at The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur yesterday. After many months of training, Swetha has bagged the crown and the honour of representing Malaysia at the world stage. Swetha also brought home the subsidiary title of Miss Glojas Beatiful.

Shweta was crowned with a RM2.38 million Habib Jewels tiara inspired by this year’s theme ‘Beauty Beyond You’. The Habib Jewels tiara called ‘Reflection’ features a
10-carat diamond set in white gold and was conceptualised to represent strength, power, courage, creativity, self-respect and love. Swetha also walks home with cash and sponsored prizes with a combined value of RM180,000 and a full education scholarship from HELP University.

Frost Yaw Hui Jing, 25 from Johor is the first runner-up, while the second and third runner-up are Tessminderjeet Kaur, 23 from Selangor and Lee Su Hsien @ Su Lee, 25 from Kuala Lumpur.

• Miss Habib: Nikita Menon, 23
• Face of MUCA: Frost Yaw Hui Jing, 25
• Miss Congeniality: Jean Kueh, 26
• Miss Babel Body Beautiful: Jean Kueh, 26
• Miss Duchess & Co. Online Personality: Nikita Menon, 23
• Miss Miko Galere Exceptional Coiffure: Rebecca Chan, 25

Emcees for the Gala Night were Andrea Fonseka and Hansen Lee, while over 800 guests consisting of the who’s who in the local business, media, fashion and entertainment industry attended the event including YB Hannah Yeoh, Dato’ Yasmin Yusuff, Dato’ Hans Isaac, Miss Universe Malaysia 2011 Deborah Henry, Miss Universe Malaysia 2015 Vanessa Tevi Kumares, Kavita Sidhu and more.

The people with the toughest decisions to make in the room were a panel of judges consisting of Alia Bastamam, Creative Director of Alia Bastamam, Dato’ Dr JasG, CEO & Founder of Glojas Smart International Aesthetic, Kiran Jassal, Miss Universe Malaysia 2016, Lynn Lim, Actress, Miko Au, Celebrity Hairstylist of Miko Galere, Dr Nicholas Lim, Medical Director of La Jung Clinic, TJ Chan, Head of Branding & Marketing Communications for Malaysia Airlines Berhad and Whulandary Herman, Miss Universe Indonesia 2013.

Datin Elaine Daly, National Director of the Miss Universe Malaysia Organization (MUMO) said, “The Miss Universe Malaysia Organization has always been about inspiring, transforming and empowering young women out there to be confidently beautiful so that they can stand proud on a global platform with a sense of purpose, carry the Malaysia flag with pride and be able to make a difference.”
