And now a Malaysian barista has made the country proud by earning a spot in the world barista championship, much to the pleasure of coffee aficionados.
Surender Kumar from Round has made us and Malaysia proud by winning the GIGI Coffee Malaysia Barista Championship 2023.
The Malaysia Specialty Coffee Association hosted the event, which took place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from May 25–27. Due to his success, Surender Kumar has the chance to represent Malaysia at the World Barista Championship 2024, which will take place in Busan, South Korea, from May 1 to 4, 2024.
When it’s comes to Gigi Coffee Malaysia Barista Championship (MBC), is an entirely novel competition that celebrates the art of baristas and inspires local baristas to compete to advance their abilities.
The competition was also given official approval by World Coffee Events (WCE).
The goal of Gigi Coffee MBC is to showcase these baristas’ abilities while encouraging excellence in interactions with clients, presentation, and self-assurance. The national champion will have the opportunity to compete against some of the top baristas in the entire globe.
