Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin has announced that the movement control order (MCO) would be extended for another two weeks until April 28.
The decision was made after obtaining feedback from the Health Ministry on the Covid-19 outbreak in Malaysia.
Several areas were also placed under a lockdown or enhanced MCO after recording a high number of cases.
Schools will remain closed throughout the period, he added. Various sectors will be allowed to operate during the extended MCO, this will be announced by the government soon.
