Complaint Filed To Arrest Kamal Hassan After His “Hindu Terrorist” Remark

Kamal Hassan’s transition from acting to politics, while ambitious, has not been a smooth ride.

The outspoken president of the Makkal Needhi Maiam party, made some sensitive remarks by terming Nathuram Godse, who had killed Mahatma Gandhi, a “Hindu terrorist”. His remarks at a speech has caused an uproar of chaos and protests. Police security was ordered around Kamal Hassan’s Alwarpet residence after there were threats of protests.

His speech was said to promote enmity between religions and have been met with heavy criticism. A complaint was filed against Kamal Hassan and his party at the Election Commission, demanding a ban on the actor’s party. His comment would have grievous impacts for allegedly hurting religious sentiments by terming Nathuram Godse a “Hindu terrorist”.

Actor and Makkal Needhi Maiam party president Kamal Haasan’s views on Hindu terrorist Nadhuram Godse has been receiving heavy criticism from one end while at another end his views have been receiving support as well, and some of the parties are demanding a ban on the actor’s party and have filed complaints in Election Commission. In Nagercoil, Hindu protestors burned an effigy of Kamal Hassan.

Kamal Hassan will be investigated under the Indian Penal Code sections 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups on ground of religion, race, language etc) and 295-A (outrage religious feelings by insulting religion etc) and may face a 3 years in jail or a fine, or both.
